Holland College Hurricanes golfers Karleigh McEwen and Jaylene Holmes-Tang have been named Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association all-Canadians.
McEwen, a Stratford native in her rookie season with the Hurricanes, earned tournament victories in Fredericton, N.B., and New Glasgow, N.S., before winning the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association individual championship. McEwen, a first-year bioscience student, had the lowest scoring average in the conference and improved her play with every round.
Holmes-Tang, a Gravenhurst, Ont., native, finished second individually at the ACAA championship and was victorious at the UNB invitational.
Holmes-Tang, a second-year golf club management student, was an all-Canadian and a 2014 national scholar award recipient last season.
The team of McEwen and Holmes-Tang won all four events around Atlantic Canada this season.
McEwen and Holmes-Tang begin play at the 2015 CCAA PING National Golf Championships today alongside the Hurricanes men’s team of Tyson Gavin, Connor Shea, Luke Allen, Neal Ryan and Josh Dominie.
The men’s ‘Canes are the defending champions while the women’s program won silver at this event in 2012.
