The Universite Sainte-Anne Dragons will be playing in the ACAA championship after taking down the University of New Brunswick Saint John (UNBSJ) Seawolves in straight sets.The first set started in a close battle, with both teams trading back and forth points. Eventually, the Dragons found a groove and got out to a 17-12 lead forcing the Seawolves to take a timeout. The Dragons had no intention of giving up their lead after the timeout, taking five of the next eight points and holding a 22-15 lead over the Seawolves. The Dragons wouldn't let Saint John get any momentum, and they would take the set 25-16.The second set started with a great back-and-forth battle between both teams. Neither side could get more than a three-point lead. Eventually, the Seawolves were able to make it 21-19 when the Dragons called their first timeout of the set. The timeout worked, as the Dragons claimed the next two points tying the game at 21 which forced the Seawolves to call their first timeout. The Teams battled to a 24-24 tie. After more great back and forth between the two teams, the Dragons' offense proved too much for the Seawolves to handle, and they took the set 29-27.The Third set was another battle, as the teams found themselves tied 10-10. The Seawolves would then go on a 3-0 run but the Dragons would quickly respond and shorten the Seadogs lead to one. The teams were showcasing great skill as they traded points back and forth. Eventually, the set would be tied at 20. Two quick points from the Dragons would force the Seawolves to call their first timeout. It wouldn't help, as the Dragons would go on to win the set, and the match, with a lethal kill from Louis-Philipe LeBlan.Liam Pelletier was awarded player of the game honours for the Dragons after putting up 16 kills and nine digs. Ethan Aucoin led with 38 assists and Vincent Doucet led the team with 10 digs.Liam McLellan earned player of the game honours for the Seawolves putting up 23 assists and six digs. David Valencia led the team with 12 kills and John Benfica led with nine digs.The Dragons will take on the Saint Thomas University Tommies on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Dragons are 3-1 against the Tommies throughout four regular season matchups.
