A Fresh Start and Rising Expectations
Expect intensity from day one as the 2025–26 ACAA women's basketball season gets underway. The MSVU Mystics, last year's champions, return with the familiarity and experience that have long made them one of the most consistent programs in the conference. The Holland College Hurricanes, who finished as runners-up, remain poised to challenge again and bring the combination of competitiveness and resiliency that helped define last year's playoff push. Their matchups will be among the most anticipated on the schedule this season.
One of the most notable preseason storylines is the strong early showing from the St. Thomas Tommies, who went undefeated leading into the regular season. Their performances suggest they could be positioned to disrupt the standings and build momentum as the year progresses.
Meanwhile, there is change in Moncton, where the Crandall Chargers have welcomed new head coach Jonathon Thorpe. The Chargers will look to establish their rhythm early as they adapt to a new style and identity under fresh leadership. Across the conference, the UNBSJ Seawolves, Mount Allison Mounties, and University of King's College Blue Devils bring returning depth and internal development that should contribute to a balanced and competitive year.
The road leads to Halifax, where Mount Saint Vincent University will host the ACAA Championship from March 6–8, 2026. The champion will advance to the CCAA National Championship hosted by Dawson College, March 18–21, 2026.
The ACAA prides itself on competitive integrity, sportsmanship, and respect. Teams push one another because the challenges faced here strengthen the group that represents the conference nationally. The battles throughout the regular season and postseason are what prepare ACAA teams to step confidently onto the national stage.
