UNB Saint John Seawolves, ACAA Rugby Sevens Champions!

Today the UNB Saint John Seawolves hosted the 2025 -26 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Rugby Sevens Championships! Some great tournament action on all accounts from the competing teams.

SF #1 UNBSJ Vs. DALAC

First semi-final of the day the UNB Saint John Seawolves met the Dalhousie AC Rams. The Seawolves came out on top with a final score of 41 – 5 over the Rams.

Rihanna MacKay scored 5 points for UKC and took home player of the match. Taking the lead in points for the Seawolves, Emma Downs with 3 tries and 2 conversions. Player of the match for the Seawolves was awarded to Emma Downs. UNBSJ advanced to the Gold Medal match.

SF #2 STU Vs. UKC

The second semi-final of the tournament had the STU Tommies and the UKC Blue Devils take the field. It was a close call, but the final score was in favor of the Blue Devils, 12 – 10 over the Tommies.

Cali Crossman and Alexis Falconer each got a try for St. Thomas and the Blue Devils matched that energy, Daisy Uhres – Todd and Georgia Brady put points on the card. Georgia Brady added the last two points for UKC on a conversion, securing their spot in the Gold Medal match. Player of the Match for STU went to Alexis Falconer and Georgia Brady from UKC.

Bronze Medal Match

The STU Tommies and Dalhousie Rams met in the bronze medal match. After a hard-fought battle, the Tommies prevailed with a final score of 15 – 10.

Emma Mooney and Maguire Walsh from the Rams each scored a try. Alexis Falconer, Aurora Sutton and Val Boorne each added points to the card for the Tommies. Players of the Match went to Rihana MacKay from the Rams and Madi Walsh from the Tommies.

Gold Medal Match

The Championship match had the UKC Blue Devils and the UNBSJ Seawolves battle it out for the ACAA banner. The Seawolves were a force to be reckoned with and took the title with a final score of 31 – 5 over UKC.

For the Blue Devils, Norah Cook scored a try and was awarded Player of the Match. The Seawolves set a commanding pace for the game with Blessing Ajayi scoring 10 points while Emma Downs (1 conversion), Abby Allen (2 conversions) and Selena Simpson each added a try. Player of the Match for the Seawolves was given to Blessing Ajayi.
