ACAA Men's Basketball 2025-26 Season Preview

ACAA Men's Basketball 2025-26 Season Preview

The 2025–26 ACAA men's basketball season is shaping up to be a tightly contested race, with every program entering the year believing they can make noise. Last year's champions, the UNBSJ Seawolves, return to the floor looking to defend their title, while the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics, last season's runner-up, are equally determined to finish the year on top. Their meetings will draw particular attention, especially the early matchup that could set the tone for both teams.

A significant storyline comes out of Fredericton, where the St. Thomas Tommies posted an undefeated preseason record against conference opponents, placing them firmly on the radar as a team that may be ready to shift the balance at the top of the standings. Meanwhile, the Crandall Chargers, Mount Allison Mounties, University of King's College Blue Devils, and Holland College Hurricanes each bring returning cores and coaching stability that should contribute to one of the most competitive seasons the conference has seen in recent years.

On the sidelines, attention will once again turn to MSVU's Danny De Palma, the reigning CCAA Coach of the Year, who has guided the Mystics into consistent conference contention and continues to build a program known for structure, discipline, and sustained competitiveness.

One matchup fans will have circled early is MSVU vs. UNBSJ, a meeting of last season's finalists and two teams expected to be in the title conversation throughout the year.

The road to the ACAA Championship, hosted March 6–8, 2026 at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, will be challenging. The winner will advance to represent the conference at the CCAA National Championship, hosted by Vancouver Island University from March 18–21, 2026.

In the ACAA, competition is built on respect. Teams battle hard because they know the standard they set here prepares whoever advances to the national stage. Every possession, every matchup, and every weekend matters — and the battles within the ACAA are what sharpen the team that will go on to represent the conference across the country.
