The Holland College Hurricanes routed the University of New Brunswick Seawolves 5-0 in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association men's soccer championship finals at BMO Field, Sunday afternoon.

Joel Dennis, Ibrah Sanoh, Paul Martin, Cheikh Toure and Will MacNeil all scored for the Hurricanes. Goalkeeper Steve Corkrum picked up the clean sheet.

Hurricanes head coach Jonathan Vos was especially pleased with the win after the Hurricanes lost 1-0 to the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics in last year's final.

"We had a good regular season so we had some momentum coming into playoffs. Our expectations were high for the weekend it was just a matter of being professional and taking care of business," Vos said.

Dennis opened the scoring in the sixth minute heading in a ball inside the six after a nice play by Sanoh to keep the ball alive.

In the 22nd minute, Seawolves goaltender Bruce Savoie went out to play the ball, but fumbled it and allowed Hurricanes Kieran Laurie to steal the ball and cross it to Sanoh who walked into the 18 and beat a sprawling Savoie for a 2-0 Hurricanes lead.

The Hurricanes made it 3-0 on a goal by Martin in the 43rd minute.

The Seawolves tired to get some offence going in the second half.

In the 69th minute, Matt Derry had a free kick from 40 yards out that beat three Hurricanes defenders making a wall, but Corkum made the save.

Seawolves head coach Jason Brown said they can use this as experience moving forward.

"It's disappointing not to win and it's disappointing to lose in a final, but I honestly think (Holland College)  deserved it and we'll learn from this," Brown said.

Toure and MacNeil added scored in the 85th and 90th minutes for a 5-0 final.

The Hurricanes advance to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship at Sheridan College in Toronto from Nov. 5 to Nov. 8.

"The standards are going to be up. We played a few teams of that standard and we feel comfortable with the players, the ability and the determination to be successful," said Hurricanes captain George Coles.
